Virginia Driver's Manual
No driver's education would be complete without several read-throughs of the driver's manual. Every state puts out a publication for its drivers with basic information about the rules of the road and defensive driving tactics. Most also offer information about getting a license in that state.
You can download the Virginia Driver's Manual on the official Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Web site as a PDF. For your convenience, it is also available in Spanish.
The first section provides complete instructions for getting a driver's license in Virginia. The second section talks about the rules of the road and communicating with other drivers, plus info for registering a vehicle.
The manual includes examples of good driving practices, such as using seatbelts, adjusting your mirrors, and leaving enough space between your vehicle and others on the road. The manual also discusses avoiding dangerous behaviors such as driving aggressively, driving while distracted, or driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
